Who is
Funmi Unstoppable
Minister Funmi Unstoppable(MFU) is a gospel music minister and songwriter from Aiyegunle Gbedde in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Nigeria. Raised in a devout Christian family of eight, her musical journey is deeply rooted in faith and family heritage, forming the foundation of her life and calling.
Music has been her lifeline since childhood. Her father, Rev’d Kayode Simon Mejabi, was her greatest inspiration — a skilled engineer and passionate musician whose life beautifully blended professionalism with ministry.
He sang tenor, played the guitar, and ministered alongside the legendary Ebenezer Obey, who was not only a renowned figure in Nigerian music but also his friend during his time working as a manager in a German company called Singer. During those years, Ebenezer Obey composed a song in his honor — a testament to their bond and shared musical passion.
Her father instilled in her a deep love for worship through psalms and hymns. He carefully taught her to sing in tenor and encouraged her to compose songs that exalt God.
A fervent believer, he served faithfully as a choir member at ECWA in Lagos (formerly referred to as ECWA Mushin Lagos), and he was part of the student Christian association in the 1980s at CAC Oke Segun, Akure. His devotion to God was evident in every area of his life.
As his “baby girl,” born in the late 70s and lovingly given to him, she remembers how he would play the guitar to comfort her whenever she became emotional and teary. Those tender father-daughter moments, filled with music and reassurance, quietly shaped her spiritual sensitivity and strengthened her bond with worship from an early age.
With over fourteen years in ministry, her music reflects a deep and personal journey with God. What began as leading worship in local churches has grown into a calling that has taken her to various platforms, sharing stages with renowned gospel ministers such as Tope Alabi, Mike Aremu, Gbenga Akinfenwa, Bukola Bekes, and BBO, among many other anointed servants of God who are powerfully delivering the message of the cross through rhythm and lyrics around the world.
Through God’s grace, her music has continued to touch hearts, inspire faith, and draw people closer to Christ. For her, music ministry is more than performance—it is a divine assignment. She remains committed to this calling, determined to keep spreading the message of hope, worship, and salvation through song for as long as God grants her breath, knowing that Christ is the commander of her destiny.
Over the years, her ministry has continued to flourish. She has released uplifting songs such as Merciful God and My Help, as well as her album series I Am Unstoppable, to mention a few.
These projects reflect her deep walk with God and her commitment to sharing messages of faith, hope, and spiritual resilience through sound doctrine and heartfelt melodies.
Her ministry is anchored in scriptures such as Psalm 119:105: “Your word is a lamp to my feet” and Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” These passages reflect her unwavering commitment to spreading God’s Word and living out the truth of the Gospel through music and service.
“The Unstoppable Identity” stems from her firm conviction that she is a child of God, empowered by His Spirit to live unapologetically for Him. This identity is not built on human strength but on spiritual assurance — the same unwavering faith her father exemplified through his godly lifestyle, discipline, and devotion to Christ.
Personal Note
Her father’s legacy lives on powerfully through her. He was a Sunday school teacher, a Bible college graduate, and later became an ordained Reverend and pastor at Christ Apostolic Church (CAC). His love for God, the Word, and music deeply influenced her path.
After her 2023 concert, he affirmed her gift and calling, emphasizing the lasting impact of hymns and encouraging her to remain steadfast in Christ-centered songwriting. He expressed particular love for a song she wrote titled My Heart, telling her it was his best among all her compositions.
Rev’d Kayode Simon Mejabi’s enduring love for God and music continues to inspire and shape her ministry, serving as the spiritual backbone of the unstoppable identity she carries today.
